Interestingly, Nabi has shared the same sentiment with Mngqithi, revealing that goals are important and players should refrain from showboating.

“I want to provide the DNA for South African football and mix it with the necessity of modern football. And this DNA is not positive but realistic,” Nabi said.

“My colleague Hugo Broos has worked very hard to change a little. Congratulations on his work and his passion. Remember, it’s not easy for Mr Hugo Broos with Bafana Bafana, you [journalists] are here, how many times did you criticise him?

“Now I think you are here and very happy. When you change, you need passion, patience, and respect. It’s normal. There’s criticism, not positive criticism, but realistic criticism.

“You need to critique the process and not why you chose this one and not this one; that’s football for 1975, not now, you know, critique the game model.

“For me, I want to provide quality; sometimes, in South Africa, there’s too much showboating and not efficiency. You remember Bafana’s game against Uganda, after 1-0 or 2-0 the team started showboating, you need to score four of five [goals] not score one goal and you start to showboat, come on guys.”

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has echoed Manqoba Mngqithi’s showboating remarks, stressing that players should always prioritise scoring goals.

Mngqithi made these remarks last week when Sundowns were preparing to face Magesi FC in the 2024 Carling Knockout Cup final at the Free State Stadium.

The Brazilians went on to suffer a shock 2-1 defeat against Betway Premiership newbies Magesi, who lifted their first-ever domestic trophy in SA’s top-flight this past Saturday.

Dikwena tsa Meetse made it to the final after beating Orlando Pirates 3-2 in the first round of the Carling Cup. Magesi also defeated TS Galaxy in the quarter-final before knocking Richards Bay FC out of the semi-final.
