Mamelodi Sundowns have announced their fourth signing of the transfer window to reinforce their team ahead of the start of the 2024/25 campaign.
Sundowns are undergoing significant changes within both their coaching staff and playing squad. A notable departure has been head coach who has subsequently taken over at Wydad Casablanca.
Other members who left include Sibusiso Makitla [performance analyst], Michael Loftman [set-piece coach], Dayle Solomons [performance analyst] and Sinethemba Badela [DDC coach].
The Tshwane giants also parted company with Bongani Zungu, Gaston Sirino, Junior Mendieta, Brian Onyango, Promise and Thabiso Kutumela.
As part of their squad overhaul, Masandawana have acquired Asekho Tiwani from Sekhukhune United
The 19-year-old impressed during his debut top-flight season after being promoted to the first team. His standout moment came in April with a memorable goal against Cape Town Spurs, earning him the Goal of the Month award.
The defender made 16 appearances for the Limpopo outfit in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the process.
Tiwani will face competition for the left-back position from Devine Lunga, Terrence Mashego, and occasionally Aubrey Modiba, who primarily operates in midfield.
He is now the fourth addition to Sundowns’ star-studded squad following the signings of Kobamelo Kodisang, Arthur de Oliveira Sales and Kegan Johannes. Kodisang and Sales both joined the league champions on long-term deals.
The 24-year-old, Kodisang was previously in the books of Moreirense who play in the Primeira Liga in Portugal while Sales signed from Belgian club Lommel SK.
In a player exchange, Johannes moved from crosstown rivals SuperSport United to Chloorkop. Conversely, Nyiko Mobbie transferred permanently to SuperSport, while Ricardo Goss returned to the Swanky Boys on a season-long loan.
The experienced forward joined Kruger when the side bought ABC Motsepe League status of Cunningmore United in July 2023 while he was still working at the mine in Witbank.
Nyundu worked for a mining construction equipment supplier company called Bazil Technologies in Emalahleni Local Municipality, Mpumalanga‧
“Actually, what happened is that I had a break for three years without any professional team,” a delighted Nyundu told this website.
“So, I told myself ‘let me go redeem myself’. I went to a guy called Bazil Khosa who had a company around Witbank. I was working there but working there from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM and went to training with a SAB club. We were like eight who were working in the mine playing football, so I would take my players to train and go home during weekends, train and play games, then come back.
“I was working at the workshop, by the way, but in the mine. So the way they were passionate about football, this is what I have brought to our region because they are now in love with what I have started.
“But for now, I’m focused on Kruger, and I’m based with them in Bushbuckridge because I’m no longer in Witbank.”
