“I don’t discuss the schedule, it is what it is for everybody,” said Riveiro after the game at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
“So, we won the last two games. And today we drew away, seven points out of nine, playing a derby, playing away with Richards Bay is not that bad.
“Now, if we keep talking about the beginning of the season when we dropped points against AmaZulu, recently against Polokwane City and a couple of draws that are not pushing us a bit more higher on the log.
“But at the moment, the team is good. Like I said, [we have collected] seven points out of nine in the recent [three] games after not a good period for us in terms of results.
“We cannot say that we are in a bad moment, not at all. The team is playing well, we’re trying. Today, we came here without full-backs, we played with [Deon] Hotto on the left and [Fortune] Makaringe on the right.
‘THERE’S NOTHING WRONG’
“We’re trying to do our best, the team is still competing. We’re still offering a good game everytime we’re on the field.
“So, there’s nothing wrong, it’s just…maybe like I said, starting the games better. That’s it for me. I am not worried about the lack of goals. I am concerned about the way that sometimes we start the games which is not the right one.”
While he’s still unfazed by his side’s lack of goals, Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has disclosed the “only” concern he has about his men after they drew with Richards Bay FC on Saturday.
In what was a DStv Premiership return after a FIFA recess, the Buccaneers were held to a 0-0 stalemate by the Natal Rich Boyz at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
The result snapped the Soweto giants’ two-match winning run in the league. Pirates had headed into the game with their tails up having beaten Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune United.
It’s worth noting that recently the Sea Robbers have had struggles in front of goal, scoring only four in their last seven games in all competitions.
Meanwhile, in those aforementioned matches, they never scored more than one goal. However, Riveiro insisted he was not worried about their goal-scoring problems.
He pointed out that their main challenge has been starting their games slowly. He feels this has led to poor results
