The former Kaizer Chiefs star revealed how he missed the chance, before returning to South Africa.

“My loan spell in Greece [ at Panserraikos] had just ended. I went back to FC Twente and they said, I should look for another loan,” said Parker on Metro FM.

“So I went to King Power stadium[Leicester City’s home], I did well because they needed someone who can run behind the strikers.

“That time Vardy [Jamie] was playing on the right wing and Vassell [Darius] who used to play for Manchester City was there.

“Leicester City were playing one route football and they were intrested. But they said they could not afford me since FC Twente said you can take him permanently.

“And I went back to FC Twente, two days later Yakubu [Aiyegbeni] had a fall out with Samuel Allardyce.

“And Leicester City took Yakubu on loan, two years later, they won promotion into the premier league.”

After leaving FC Twente at the end of 2011, Parker joined Kaizer Chiefs where he spent over a decade.

He made 283 appearances for the Glamour Boys where he contributed 49 goals before their divorce.

The former Bafana Bafana international joined TS Galaxy last season where he turned to be their utility player.

He suffered a horrific leg injury after a crude challenge by Mamelodi Sundowns’ Bongani Zungu during a Carling Knockout Cup tie. At the moment, he is recovering with the hope of playing again.

TS Galaxy forward Bernard Parker has detailed how he missed a golden oppurtunity to play for a former Premier League champion.

Bernard Parker is one of the highly-rated players that have graced the DStv Premiership as well as the Bafana Bafana.

The TS Galaxy forward spent time in Europe after impressing at Thanda Royal Zulu between 2004 and 2009.

He was lured by Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade early in 2009 and subsquently ended up at Dutch club, FC Twente.

He spent two years in FC Twente’s ranks. During that time, he also had a loan stint at Panserraikos in Greece.

It is after the Panserraikos spell, that the 37-year-old missed the oppurtunity to play for Leicester City in the England Championship.

Leicester City were the Premier League Champions after their trailblazing 2015/16 season.
