ZOLA on House of Zwide needs serious help.
He’s a psychopath. He and his ex-girlfriend Zanele would be dead by now if Zanele’s mum Faith had not walked into the house when she did.
Zola had doused himself and Zanele with patrol and was ready to set them both alight after Zanele tried to break up with him. He’s the kind of abusive and obsessive man who only accepts break-ups on his terms. He believes if he can’t have Zanele, no one else can. He was not only physically abusive towards her, he also never missed out on a chance to tell her how useless she is and how she would not amount to anything without him.
Abusers like him reel women in by pretending to be something they are not. They then manipulate them and convince them to distance themselves from their loved one. Some of them even go as far as to convince them to quit their jobs, which is what Zola did to Zanele. She quit her well-paying job at her family’s fashion house, House of Zwide, because of him. She’s now the talk of the town, with people saying she’s stupid.

She has been struggling to cope since her near-death experience. Her mum is also not helping. When Zanele first brought up the idea of going to therapy, Faith told her it’s a waste of time. After some convincing, she supported her. What therapy has done for Zanele is to make her realise that she keeps attracting abusive men because of her childhood scars – many of which were cause by Faith.
It’s going to be interesting to see how their relationship evolves – if it does – and whether or not Zanele will get justice against Zola, who is the reason she’s been having sleepless nights.
