Kokota Piano’, as he’s affectionately known in SA football circles, was on the radar of AmaZulu FC ahead of the start of this season, with Usuthu looking to strengthen their striking department.

It is understood they couldn’t find each other with Galaxy, who reportedly demanded an unreasonable transfer fee for the 32-year-old.

Usuthu subsequently went on to sign Etiosa Ighodaro on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns after he came back from another loan spell at SuperSport United.

Additionally, the KwaZulu-Natal-based team acquired Senzo Ndlovu from the Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League club Sinenkani FC, where he had an outstanding season, netting 23 goals in 13 matches.

Before his tenure at Thwihli Thwahla, Nurkovic established his name in South African football with Kaizer Chiefs, who he joined in 2019 from the Serbian team Kormano. While at Amakhosi, he netted 21 goals and registered ten assists across 78 appearances in all competitions.

This is despite Galaxy having triggered the one-year option on the player’s contract when it expired at the end of the previous season.

His contract was set to run until June 2025; however, both parties reached an agreement to part ways this week.

Nurkovic joined The Rockets in September last year, having been a free agent for more than six months after leaving R AM in January 2023.

The Serbian forward played 29 games for the Mpumalanga-based side across all competitions, scoring 10 goals in the process.
