“I can say that a lot of people think it’s too early for me to move to Sundowns but I’m ready, that’s why I decided to make this move.
“I’m prepared to fight [for the starting line-up]. If I was afraid, I would have stayed at Sekhukhune, and I don’t take for granted the potential I have because they signed me for a reason; I push so that I can make the coaches happy, but everything happens at the right time.”
Meanwhile, Tiwani is one of ‘The Brazilians’ new arrivals alongside Kegan Johannes, Arthur de Oliveira Sales, Kobamelo Kodisang, and Iqraam Rayners.
The young defender is part of the SA Under-20 side that travelled to Maseru on Thursday afternoon to play Lesotho in two friendly games this weekend.
The two games will take place today [Friday], the 16th of August 2024, at 15H00 and on Sunday, the 18th of August 2024, at 10H00.
“It’s a dream that I’m taking as a blessing [moving to Sundowns, because I can say that it’s not everyone who gets the opportunity to play for Sundowns,” Tiwani said.
“Currently, they are one of the best teams in Africa, so I’m very happy, and I always appreciate my God-given talent because I wasn’t going to be here without God, my parents and the people around me.
Tiwani was promoted to Sekhukhune’s senior team at the start of the previous season, but he only made his debut in February 2024.
The 19-year-old featured in 16 appearances across all competitions for the Limpopo-based side and scored two goals. Tiwani introduced himself to the football fanatics in style after scoring a sublime goal from his own half against Cape Town Spurs.
After proving to be one of the talented left-backs in the PSL, Sundowns moved swiftly to sign Tiwani on a long-term contract despite his inexperience with only six months of action in the SA elite league.
He will face stiff competition in the Downs left-back position from players such as Aubrey Modiba, Devine Lunga, and Terrence Mashego.
