Du Preez’s arrival coincides with that of Nabi, who is widely expected to be announced as the new head coach of Kaizer Chiefs on Monday.

Nabi, who previously coached Young Africans and AS FAR, arrives in Istanbul on Sunday afternoon and will hold his first training session with the team this evening. The rest of Nabi’s technical team members have already joined the team in Istanbul.

Meanwhile, second assistant Khalil Ben Youssef and performance analyst Ayman Makroud joined the team on Saturday. With Nabi’s arrival, the entire technical team is now assembled in Istanbul. First assistant Fernando Da Cruz, goalkeeper’s coach Ilyes Mzoughi, and conditioning coach Majdi Safi have been with the team for the last two weeks.

The Chiefs camp in Istanbul is expected to be an important period for the team as they prepare for the new season. With a new coach, Amakhosi will be hoping to build a strong team.

Amakhosi have signed left-back Bongani Sam from Orlando Pirates. After a disappointing 10th-place finish last season, Chiefs are determined to improve in the upcoming season.

Kaizer Chiefs have received a significant boost as forward Ashley Du Preez joined the team’s pre-season camp in Istanbul, Turkey.

Du Preez, who had been sidelined with a foot injury sustained in the final home game of the 2023/24 season against Polokwane City FC, will continue his recovery under the supervision of the club’s medical team in Turkey.

The attacker was among five players who remained behind due to injury when the Chiefs departed for Istanbul on Thursday. The other four players — George Matlou, Dillan Solomons, Mduduzi Mdantsane and Tebogo Potsane — are still recovering and will continue their rehabilitation in South Africa.

The arrival of Du Preez is a welcome development for Chiefs, as the forward is a key player for the club. The speedy forward is expected to play a crucial role in incoming coach Nasreddine Nabi’s team next season.
