At Downs, the young fullback finds himself up against the likes of Divine Lunga and Terrence Mashego for that left-back position.

Sundowns also had Siyanda Msani away on loan in the last couple of seasons. A loan spell is also a possibility for the young defender as they look to fast-track his development.

Interestingly, the youth international is equally comfortable playing as a left centre-back. His versatility could also put him ahead in the near future.

According to sources close to the negotiations, personal terms with the player are being discussed, and the two clubs are finalising the transfer details. The deal is expected to be completed in the coming days, ahead of the new season.

This acquisition marks another shrewd move by Babina Noko, who continue to invest in young talent. Tiwani’s addition will provide depth and competition in the left-back position, ensuring a strong foundation for the club’s continued success.

Mamelodi Sundowns are closing in on a deal to acquire teenage left-back sensation Asekho Tiwani from Sekhukhune United.

This move comes hot on the heels of Sekhukhune’s recent acquisition of another promising young left-back, Vuyo Letlapa, from Jomo Cosmos, further solidifying their commitment to nurturing young talent.

The 19-year-old Tiwani burst onto the scene last season with a memorable goal against Cape Town Spurs, which earned him the Goal of the Month award in April.

His impressive performances, including one goal and three assists in 16 appearances across all competitions, caught the eye of former Sekhukhune coach Lehlohonolo Seema, who promoted him from the development squad.

The Limpopo-based club is undergoing a reshuffling of their left-back options, having released Lebogang Mabotja and former Kaizer Chiefs defender Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya. This has paved the way for Tiwani’s potential move to Masandawana, where he is seen as a long-term prospect.
