Gavin Hunt has weighed in on the feud between two DStv Premiership coaches Rulani Mokwena and Sead Ramovic.

The two colleagues don’t see eye-to-eye and there’s a series of events that have escalated their matter. Mokwena-Ramovic issues date back to the quarter-finals of the Carling Knockout. TS Galaxy knocked Mamelodi Sundowns out of the competition 5-4 on penalties following a 2-2 draw earlier in the season. During that match, Bongani Zungu was sent off after a career-ending tackle on Bernard Parker.

Then in April, when the two sides met in the league, Orebotse Mongae injured Zungu and was shown a straight red card as Masandawana won 3-0. In the post-match conference, Mokwena accused Ramovic and Co. of targeting Zungu because of their last encounter. The Rockets then approached the court challenging Mokwena’s accusations.

Last Tuesday Sundowns and Galaxy renewed their rivalry in the league and it ended as a 1-1 draw. After the match, the two teams had to be separated by the South African Police Services [SAPS] following a brawl. The experienced coach has called on the PSL to intervene in the matter. He believes it’s painting a bad image of the SA top-tier league.

“When you go and do your coaching licenses, there’s a certain [part] on ethics. There has to be certain respect, you cannot let it go off the field,” said Hunt.

“I think the league should be involved, something should happen you can’t let things go like this.

“It’s reflection on your sponsorships. It doesn’t look like one is going to give in, there’s nothing wrong with a brawl. You don’t have to shake hands with the guy, but there’s got to be a respect around these things.

“I think they need to sort it out, get into a room if they can. I don’t think it will happen, it has gone a little bit too far right now.

“There’s a code of conduct, there’s a code of ethics in the business. [Jose] Mourinho don’t like Pep [Guardiola] you know what I’m saying, the league must get involved.”
