After enduring relationship troubles and academic disappointment, Velaphi (Kwanda Manyathi) made the difficult decision to not go back to school after failing his matric, much to the dismay of his family.
Pressured by Nomsa and Thenjiwe, Velaphi found himself working without pay in the family businesses as a form of punishment for his choice.
Feeling lost and vulnerable, Velaphi’s newfound uncle Solomzi (Senzo Radebe), recognizing his nephew’s need for money, persuades him to join a life of crime. Together, they engage in stealing cables in Es’hlahleni, a dangerous and illegal activity.
However, their criminal endeavours take a perilous turn when Solomzi fails to show up for a job, leaving Velaphi to attempt the theft alone.
Inexperienced and unprepared, Velaphi suffers a severe electric shock during the theft attempt, leading to a violent confrontation on 26 February with outraged community members who hold him accountable for the damage caused to their neighbourhood.
