The ex-Kaizer Chiefs defender confirmed his departure from the club in a brief statement posted on social media. Moreso, he did not reveal his future plans as he left the club.

“To all the wins I have had all the great times, this is goodbye to the team and marking a farewell to the end of the season,” reads Hadebe’s statement.

“Houston Dynamo and the coaches, Ted, Pat, Asher, Nick, and the technical stuff thank you for trusting me. I will be forever grateful to my teammates and fans.”

In 2019, Hadebe left Chiefs to join Yeni Malatyaspor in Turkey, ending a two-year stay with Amakhosi. He had joined the Naturena-based club in 2017 after an impressive spell at Zimbabwe’s Chicken Inn.

In addition, his departure from Chiefs was not short of drama. And it emerged that there was an unfulfilled sell-on clause.

Equally, the clause entitled Chicken Inn to receive a certain percentage in the event the player was transferred to another club. The former Zimbabwean club claimed that they did not get anything from Chiefs after the move to Turkey.

And then, Chicken Inn reported the Soweto giants to FIFA. Finally, Chiefs paid their dues last year and the matter was resolved.

A former Kaizer Chiefs defender has confirmed his departure from a Major League Soccer [MLS] club after three seasons.

Zimbabwean defender Teenage Hadebe announced that he will not renew his contract with Houston Dynamo in the USA.

Hadebe’s contract with the club lapses at the end of December, ending his three-year stay at the Major League Soccer outfit.

He joined Houston Dynamo in 2021 after a stint in Turkey. The 28-year-old was part of the team that won the 2023 US Open Cup title, defeating Inter Miami in the final.

Hadebe, though was affected by a nagging knee injury that restricted him to 16 appearances in all 2023 competitions.

Njabulo Blom and Bongokuhle Hlongwane are the other former DStv Premiership stars remaining in the American league.
