In a video posted on the club’s social media platforms on Thursday, General Manager Richard Makhoba and club captain Samuel Manganyi refuted the non-payment of salaries allegations.

“I am standing here to correct the misinformation and a strong rumour that has been going viral regarding Royal AM player’s salaries for December month,” said Makhoba.

“I can state categorically clearly that the players were paid timeously in December. To allow them to meet all their festive obligations as far as their families are concerned. The story that was posted is not correct, is false and malicious. As a club, we view that story as defamatory.

“It must be dealt with the contempt that it deserves. As a club, when the time is right, we will seek an opinion as to what we need to do about the story,” added Makhoba.

Manganyi also added that the players have received their salaries and described the alleged reports as false.

“There were accusations of Royal AM not paying their players. Those are false accusations, we all got paid our December salaries and we are very happy.”

ANOTHER EMBARRASSING BOYCOTT ON THE CARDS?

The reports come at the back of an embarrassing situation after Moroka Swallows failed to honour their league fixture. The Dube Birds were scheduled to take on defending Champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday but the players decided against honouring the fixture due to unpaid salaries.

DStv Premiership side Royal AM have moved swiftly to address the spreading rumours of players’ unpaid salaries.

Rumours have been circulating on social media that the Royal AM players were threatening to boycott their DStv Premiership match against AmaZulu FC on Friday due to ‘unpaid salaries’.

There have also been unconfirmed rumours in recent times that club president Shawn Mkhize was contemplating selling the club.
