We understands the Natal Rich Boyz offered their shot-stopper, Magoola to the Phefeni Glamour Boys in the past few weeks. However, the Soweto giants didn’t accept due to the foreign quota.

Currently, they have five registered foreign players in their squad namely Christian Saile, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Edson Castillo, Efmamjjasond Gonzalenz and Edmilson Dove.

Magoola’s contract is expiring at the end of the season, however, Richards Bay want to exercise an option. That would mean his stay at the club would then end in June 2025.

It is understood the KZN side would rather cash in now on the player than lose him for free when his contract ends.

Despite the club’s struggles last season, Magoola was a key figure, particularly in the first round of the campaign. He won Player of the Month for September/October. However, he has struggled somewhat this season, conceding 13 goals from 10 DStv Premiership games.

Despite having launched the search for a new goalkeeper, Kaizer Chiefs recently rejected Salim Magoola who was offered to them by Richards Bay. Here’s why.

Amakhosi’s goalkeeping woes have affected them severely this season with the team chopping and changing in goals. There has been an inconsistency in the goalkeeping position and among the club’s three goalkeepers; Itumeleng Khune, Brandon Peterson and Bruce Bvuma.

Peterson, who was seemingly coming along well at some point, has been missing from action having committed errors that proved costly for the team.

He last played his game in the DStv Premiership match in October in a match against Golden Arrows where he unfortunately made a blunder that led to Abafana Bes’thende’s goal.

Meanwhile, Khune is still in suspension after he was reported to have arrived in training under the influence of alcohol. Bvuma has been between the sticks in the past two games.
