Amakhosi are hunting for a new coach to replace Ntseki as Chiefs substantive coach.
Johnson has done little to convince Amakhosi fans and management that he is the right man for the job at Naturena after losing two and winning one match.
Even having been at the Naturena-based giants for a couple of months now working as head of development, he has not used his knowledge of the club to his full advantage.
That leaves the Soweto giants needing to appoint a new coach as soon as possible before their season turns into a disaster.
The system of play at Chiefs is clearly not working effectively to bring good results.
Definitely, Johnson might need to find workable solutions in the way Amakhosi play because it is almost the same way witnessed when Arthur Zwane and Molefi Ntseki were coaches.
New signing Luke Fleurs might need to be given a chance in defence maybe as a solution to their frailties at the back.
Wandile Duba is also an option as a striker although he has previously not inspired confidence that he could help improve things.
Even the return of Keagan Dolly from a long injury layoff has not come with more supply of clean balls to forwards.
During the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates, Johnson started central midfielders Yusuf Maart, Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Edson Castillo.
Castillo has proven to be more effective going forward where he usually has a goal in his legs and he could form a very creative partnership with Dolly.
Trusting a player like Nkosingiphile Ngcobo appears suicidal because this is a midfielder who is still the same as that promising player who was promoted to the Chiefs first-team in 2017.
Since the start of the season, Chiefs have useed forwards Ranga Chivaviro and Christian Saile Basomboli, but no combination has been established upfront.
Ashley du Preez was also been in the mix before being injured but the rotation system seems not to be working and the arrival of Jasond Gonzalez has not improved anything.
Perhaps Johnson can go for a three-pronged attack of Chivaviro, Saile and Du Preez when he returns to full fitness.
This could be in the same fashion Liverpool used to start Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino at the same time.
Chiefs have conceded in their last eight games across all competitions and they have been struggling to keep clean sheets.
They last kept a clean sheet in September when they drew 0-0 with Royal AM at home.
The central defence combination of Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Given Msimango is the most used although Njabulo Ngcobo has been occasionally used in place of Msimango.
Edmilson Dove seems to have dislodged Sifiso Hlanti at left-back while Zitha Kwinika has knocked off Reeve Frosler at right-back.
But all these changes have not worked in terms of improving Anakhosi’s situation at the back and Johnson has to come up with a solid plan to tighten his defence.
Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson is under pressure as he looks to change the team’s fortunes.
It is a Premier Soccer League campaign that has seen the Soweto giants currently 10th in the standings.
GOAL takes a look at what Johnson might need to do to rescue Chiefs’ season before it is too late.
Amakhosi are enduring a difficult season in which they risk finishing outside the top-eight on the Premier Soccer League table.
