Media personality and musician Vusi Nova was selected as the Western Cape choirmaster for Clash of the Choirs.

Speaking to Sunday World in a wide-ranging interview this week, Nova said the experience was both stressful and exciting.

He believes that the competition is more about the choir masters, and he believes his choir is going to walk away with the gong.

The Ndikuthandile hitmaker introduced his alter ego Snova, where he released an amapiano song titled Shuku Shuku.

He said Snova is still there and working in studio on an EP, which will be released in due time.

The musician said he believes he has different personalities naturally and that is how he is able to balance Snova and Vusi.

“I don’t like being boxed and I will never allow people to box me. I think I did a great job with that. Vusi does something quite different and Snova is the real me having fun.”

He will also be releasing an album in 2024 under Vusi, which he is currently busy with in studio. He describes the upcoming album as him going back to his roots and tapping into the sound that everyone fell in love with.

“I think whenever I go through the most, that is when I write the best songs. I have learnt to take advantage of that and it helps me heal.

“I can’t wait for people to hear it, because I believe my music heals people.”

A couple of months ago, Vusi was involved in a car accident. He said he has been told he has a spiritual calling. After being through so much, he has learnt to accept and embrace it.

“I really hope that the gift that I have is the music part of things. I have learnt that all these negative things that have been happening were because I was neglecting and running away from the calling.

“Since I have accepted [my calling] things are opening up, which is beautiful to see.”

He will be releasing a new single Soze Ndixole on September, which he did with two artists under his record label.

He said the song is very deep and speaks about losing their parents.

He also did a soundtrack titled Zwide for Shaka Ilembe, saying he felt honoured to be chosen to be part of the project.

He also looks forward to doing more soundtracks in the future with other productions.
