Vusi Nova composed Zwide. “My song was inspired by Zwide. He was Shaka’s rival, and I knew most artists would choose to compose about Shaka because of his calibre, so I opted for his rival.
“The song is a mix of genres including hip-hop, Afro-beat and Afro-soul. “Zwide is a powerful song. It reminds us who we are, and where we come from,” said Vusi Nova. He said he watched the first drama series, Shaka Zulu.
“I watched it about five times, and I never got bored. I’m also following Shaka ILembe. As an African child, I am always in awe of our history as Africans,” said Vusi Nova.
Mbuso said he is excited about his songs on Shaka Ilembe. “One song was inspired by Shaka, and it’s called Ungowamakhosi. This song is about the Shaka’s childhood and serves as a reminder that he is the chosen one.
“The song is also a reminder to any other child out there that they are special,” said Mbuso. His other song is titled, Njomane. “This song is inspired by Nandi. Her clan name is Njomane, and the song aims to praise the Mhlongos. These songs are available on digital platforms, but the full album will be out in November,” he said
